# What is Change set?

> A change set is Salesforce's point-and-click way to send metadata from one org to a connected org, typically from a sandbox to production. Components are added by hand to an outbound change set, which is uploaded, then validated and deployed in the receiving org.

## Why it matters

Change sets need no extra tools, but they are manual, easy to get wrong when a dependency is left out, and leave little record of why a change was made or who approved it.

## In SyncOnAI 360

Changes made through SyncOnAI 360 deploy as proposals through the Metadata API instead, with named checks, the components they affect, validation, approval and a receipt. It does not import existing change sets.
