What is Validate-only deployment?
A deployment that checks a change without saving it
- Also: validation deployment
- Also: dry-run deployment
Definition
A validate-only deployment asks Salesforce to process a deployment against the target org, including running the required Apex tests, and report any errors, without saving anything. It is the most reliable way to know a change will deploy before the moment it matters.
01Why it matters
Validate-only deployment in practice
Errors found by validation are real errors from the real org, not predictions, so validating before approval removes most deploy-day surprises.
