What is Change set?

Salesforce's built-in way to move metadata between connected orgs

Definition

A change set is Salesforce's point-and-click way to send metadata from one org to a connected org, typically from a sandbox to production. Components are added by hand to an outbound change set, which is uploaded, then validated and deployed in the receiving org.

01Why it matters

Change set in practice

Change sets need no extra tools, but they are manual, easy to get wrong when a dependency is left out, and leave little record of why a change was made or who approved it.

How it shows up in the product

Changes made through SyncOnAI 360 deploy as proposals through the Metadata API instead, with named checks, the components they affect, validation, approval and a receipt. It does not import existing change sets.
